Idaho Power filed its annual Power Cost Adjustment with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to request a decrease in electric rates, meaning a typical resident using 950 kilowatt-hours per month will see an 8.26% drop in cost or about $9.97 if approved.
The changes will take effect on June 1 — pending approval.
The Bureau of Land Management began prescribed burns in southwest Idaho on April 15 to lower wildfire risk and reduce hazardous fuel buildup; each burn is expected to last three to five days and include sites like Antelope Ridge (81 acres) and Rock Creek (1,058 acres).
Governor Little signed House Bill 109 banning candy and soda from the government food assistance program — his administration seeks a waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to implement the changes.
