CRIME NEWS

  • A suspect, Saengutone Ty Maria, was charged with first-degree murder in a hotel shooting in Nampa after officers found an adult male with several gunshot wounds just after 9:00 a.m. on August 8 — Maria fled the scene before being arrested in Ada County by Boise Police.  IdahoNews

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Bistriceanu (Idaho National Guard) received a Purple Heart at Gowen Field for injuries he got in an attack in Syria on March 24. Five other soldiers were also awarded for injuries when Iranian-backed militants fired cluster rockets.  IdahoNews

HEALTH NEWS

  • Idaho lost more than a third of its OB-GYNs between 2022 and 2024 after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, and some high-risk pregnant patients have been flown out of state when hospitals could not care for them. Dr. Megan Kasper said OB-GYNs are working long hours while practices hire nurse midwives, though state laws continue to make recruiting new doctors difficult.  IdahoNews
