The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare ended its temporary Family Paid Caregiving Services Program set up during the COVID-19 pandemic and said families may still use Medicaid to pay eligible relatives—like grandparents or aunts—for personal care services.
The department urged families who have trouble finding direct care staff to contact local provider agencies or the department while noting that a permanent program would need new legislation.
